Description For Embedded Flight Software Manager, Kuiper Guidance Navigation and Control & Propulsion

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites, aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide. As the Embedded Flight Software Manager, you'll lead the critical team responsible for designing and developing the software that controls Kuiper satellites from launch to re-entry.

In this role, you'll manage teams working on embedded real-time applications for spacecraft control and propulsion systems. You'll collaborate closely with Guidance and Control and Flight Dynamics teams, leading the development of essential software functions for orbital control. Your expertise in embedded systems and aerospace applications will be crucial in developing high-reliability software solutions.

  • Lead a team of SW engineers implementing embedded code for attitude control of Kuiper satellites and propulsion system control
  • Lead software engineering team developing functions for controlling Kuiper satellite orbits
  • Develop and execute roadmap for GNC SW development
  • Create and maintain team planning mechanisms and documentation
  • Interface with broader Kuiper organization for GNC needs

Requirements For Embedded Flight Software Manager, Kuiper Guidance Navigation and Control & Propulsion

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Knowledge of full software/hardware development life cycle
  • 3+ years experience development SW for embedded systems
  • 3+ years experience developing SW for Aerospace applications
  • Experience with automated vehicle control systems
