Embedded SDE (Cameras, Comp Vision, LiDAR, Motion Planning), Last Mile Delivery Technology

The Last Mile team at Amazon helps get packages from delivery stations to a customer's doorstep. Our tech team is building a globally connected fleet of smart delivery vehicles, including both gasoline-powered and future electrical vehicles. We're combining cutting-edge vehicle IoT technologies (sensors, embedded devices, wearables, and robotics), real-time data streams (video, vehicle telematics, location, and presence), with machine learning models and algorithms to create solutions for faster and better delivery.

We're seeking a Software Development Engineer for the Connected Vehicle team to develop solutions that access and utilize the existing array of sensors in our current fleet of delivery vehicles, and to help design the future fleet of delivery vehicles. This role requires expertise in edge computing systems, cloud data analytic platforms and tools, user applications with UX optimization, data processing pipelines with connected devices, and big-data analytic tooling.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing solutions for accessing and utilizing sensors in current delivery vehicles
• Designing future delivery vehicle fleets
• Understanding integration from edge computing systems to cloud data analytic platforms
• Working on user applications with UX optimization
• Developing data processing pipelines with connected devices
• Working with big-data analytic tools

The ideal candidate will have experience developing similar applications at scale, preferably in consumer or industrial verticals. This role requires autonomy and the ability to deliver results, often within the ambiguity of building a v1 product. You'll need to work efficiently to build the right things with limited guidance, raising the bar to create an amazing experience for our customers.

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Expertise in computer vision, machine learning, and image processing
• 3+ years' experience with LiDAR and camera sensor data
• Strong programming skills in C++, Python, or similar languages

Amazon offers a competitive compensation package, including equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in the lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in the highest geographic market, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
