Description For Embedded Software Development Engineer, Kuiper MAC

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband internet connectivity to un-served and under-served communities around the world. As an Embedded Software Development Engineer for Kuiper MAC, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and testing the communication systems payload software that provides radio link connectivity between satellites, customer-terminals, and ground-based internet gateways.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning unique embedded software functions through design, implementation, test, and integration in embedded Linux or real-time operating system (RTOS) environments.
  • Writing software to control silicon devices using various communication buses.
  • Collaborating with hardware teams for board design, bring-up, verification, integration, and testing.
  • Implementing best practices in high-reliability embedded software development.
  • Debugging low-level issues at the intersection of hardware/FPGA/firmware/software on multicore SOCs.

You will be part of a team that tackles critical satellite payload functions, including payload power management, hardware interfaces, command & telemetry, operational state management, thermal management, resiliency, and redundancy. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge space-based systems and solve challenging development problems in building highly reliable, power-efficient, and low-cost satellite avionics and communication systems payload.

The position requires a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or someone lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum due to export control laws.

Amazon offers a competitive compensation package, including equity and a range of benefits. The company is committed to diversity and inclusion, providing equal opportunities to all qualified candidates.
