Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites, aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide. As an Embedded Software Engineer on the optical inter-satellite link (ISL) team, you'll be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge software systems for controlling and monitoring high-rate optical communications. This role combines embedded systems development with space technology, requiring expertise in C/C++/Rust programming and RTOS environments. You'll work alongside top-notch engineers across multiple disciplines, including optical, electrical, and opto-mechanical teams. Responsibilities For Embedded Software Engineer, Optical Inter-satellite Link

  • Develop embedded software in C/C++/Rust and assembly for RTOS and/or bare-metal environments
  • Participate in the full life-cycle of development from planning to deployment and maintenance
  • Develop highly reliable embedded software from low level to flight control and management application level
  • Work closely with hardware and systems engineers to support board-bring up and design of control algorithms
  • Design, implement, and verify software systems to control and monitor high-rate optical communications

Requirements For Embedded Software Engineer, Optical Inter-satellite Link

Rust
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee due to export control laws
