Description For Energy Projects Manager, AWS Energy Team

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a results-oriented Energy Projects Manager to join their AMER East Energy Team. This role is crucial in supporting AWS's global infrastructure expansion by leading energy projects with electric utilities in the AMER East region. The position involves managing multiple large-scale power infrastructure projects, working with utilities, and ensuring reliable power delivery to AWS data centers.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong energy background with proven experience in developing innovative energy projects. They will work with regulated electric utilities to develop, contract, and deliver medium and high voltage power infrastructure. The role requires strategic thinking about business, operations, and technical challenges, while maintaining the ability to drive tactical execution of project schedules and team goals.

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The team supports all AWS data centers, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. This ensures customers have continuous access to AWS services. The role offers an opportunity to work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain.

The position involves collaboration with diverse teams across AWS, including software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts. Responsibilities For Energy Projects Manager, AWS Energy Team

  • Manage multiple Utilities, EPC and Owner's Engineers to deliver medium voltage and high voltage power infrastructure projects
  • Manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure and energy projects
  • Collaborate with internal teams and regulated utilities on implementation and management of energy projects
  • Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects related to energy infrastructure and supply
  • Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines
  • Support AWS's infrastructure expansion by leading energy projects with electric utilities

Requirements For Energy Projects Manager, AWS Energy Team

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Engineering/Business or other technical field, or an additional 4+ years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in utility/energy industry in a commercial/business development or technical role
  • 2+ years of experience developing and delivering Medium Voltage and High Voltage electric infrastructure projects
  • 2+ years of experience reviewing energy projects and contracts with utilities and contractors
  • 2+ years of experience collaborating with external stakeholders to drive projects
