Description For Energy Projects Manager, Infrastructure Energy Team

AWS Infrastructure Energy Team (IET) for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) is seeking an experienced Energy Projects Manager to lead power scaling strategies across multiple countries. This role is crucial for ensuring AWS's continued growth and infrastructure expansion in EMEA.

The position involves managing end-to-end power scaling strategies, analyzing and implementing data center interconnection approaches, and ensuring secure, resilient, and scalable power access. You'll be part of a 14-member team spread across Dublin, London, Madrid, Dubai, and Frankfurt, working on one of AWS's biggest challenges: finding reliable, scalable, and sustainable power solutions.

As an Energy Projects Manager, you'll collaborate with utilities, regulators, and policymakers to secure power resources efficiently. You'll join AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS), the team responsible for keeping the cloud running through management of all AWS global infrastructure, including data centers, servers, and networking equipment.

The role offers significant growth opportunities within AWS's innovative environment. You'll work with diverse teams across software, hardware, and network engineering, contributing to AWS's mission of providing infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost while maintaining the highest safety and security standards.

Responsibilities For Energy Projects Manager, Infrastructure Energy Team

  • Lead development and execution of power growth strategy for AWS's EMEA data centers
  • Prospect for, originate and contract power capacity needed for data centers
  • Identify risks in power grid delivery and operation
  • Develop cost saving projects related to grid infrastructure
  • Collaborate with electricity utilities and external stakeholders
  • Work with AWS's Public Policy team on policies and guidelines
  • Manage both internal business partners and energy stakeholders

Requirements For Energy Projects Manager, Infrastructure Energy Team

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering or other relevant technical field
  • 7-10+ years delivery track record in electric utility/energy industry
  • Deep understanding of grid application process, grid access rules and electricity grids
  • Project management experience
  • Working proficiency in German and English languages
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects
  • Proven track record in stakeholder relationship management
