Description For Engineering Operation Technician, InfraOps DCEO

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a dedicated Engineering Operation Technician to join their data center operations team in the Thames Valley Region. This role is crucial for maintaining AWS's global infrastructure, which supports countless customers worldwide. As an EOT, you'll be responsible for the operation and maintenance of critical data center equipment, ensuring 99.999% uptime for mission-critical servers.

The position involves hands-on work with sophisticated equipment including diesel generators, switchboards, UPS systems, and building automation systems. You'll work in a 24/7 operation, taking on 12-hour shifts in a rotating schedule. The role combines technical expertise with practical problem-solving, as you'll be responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and emergency response.

Responsibilities For Engineering Operation Technician, InfraOps DCEO

  • Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform maintenance tasks including filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power installs
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Take daily operational readings of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance
  • Respond to off-hour emergency calls per on-call rotation
  • Manage building workflows and spare part inventory

Requirements For Engineering Operation Technician, InfraOps DCEO

Linux
  • Commutable to the Thames Valley Region
  • Ability to work in cramped and/or elevated locations
  • Technical training (Military or trade school) or relevant experience
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (rotating 3 and 4 day work weeks, days or nights)
  • 4+ years of Data Centre Engineering Experience preferred
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline preferred
  • Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout
