Description For Engineering Operation Technician, InfraOps DCEO

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is for an Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) position within AWS data centers, focusing on maintaining critical infrastructure with 99.999% uptime requirements.

The position involves hands-on maintenance and operation of crucial data center equipment, including:

  • Standby diesel generators
  • Switchboards/switch-gears
  • UPS systems
  • PDUs
  • Air handling units (AHUs)
  • Building automation systems

Key aspects of the role include:

  • 24/7 shift coverage with 12-hour shifts on rotating schedules
  • Direct responsibility for mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance
  • Emergency response and troubleshooting
  • Contractor supervision
  • Safety procedure compliance
  • Equipment monitoring and documentation

Responsibilities For Engineering Operation Technician, InfraOps DCEO

  • Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform maintenance tasks including filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power installs
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance
  • Respond to off-hour emergency calls
  • Manage building workflows and spare part inventory

Requirements For Engineering Operation Technician, InfraOps DCEO

Linux

  • Technical training (Military or trade school) or relevant experience
  • Ability to work in cramped and/or elevated locations
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle
  • Commutable to the Thames Valley Region
