Description For Engineering Operation Technician, InfraOps DCEO

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is for an Engineering Operation Technician position within AWS data centers, focusing on maintaining critical infrastructure with 99.999% uptime requirements.

The position involves hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation, including work with diesel generators, switchboards, UPS systems, PDUs, AHUs, pumps, motors, and building automation systems. You'll be part of a team that ensures the continuous operation of AWS data centers, working on a shift basis that may include nights and weekends.

As an EOT, you'll be responsible for both routine maintenance and emergency response, requiring technical expertise in both electrical and mechanical systems. The role demands attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while following strict safety protocols.

Responsibilities For Engineering Operation Technician, InfraOps DCEO

  • Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform maintenance tasks including filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power installs
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Take daily operational readings of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance
  • Respond to off-hour emergency calls
  • Manage building workflows and spare part inventory

Requirements For Engineering Operation Technician, InfraOps DCEO

Linux
  • Commutable to the Thames Valley Region
  • Technical training (Military or trade school) or relevant experience
  • Ability to work in cramped and/or elevated locations
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (rotating 3 and 4 day work weeks)
  • 4+ years of Data Centre Engineering Experience preferred
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline preferred
  • Knowledge of network design and low voltage cabling
