Description For Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As an Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of the team that keeps the cloud running by maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems in AWS data centers. The role involves hands-on work with electrical and mechanical equipment, including preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of mission-critical systems like diesel generators, UPS units, cooling systems, and fire/life safety equipment.

You'll work in some of the world's most sophisticated and secure data centers, collaborating with bright minds globally to implement new technology and work practices. The position requires technical expertise in facility operations, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capability to work in various physical conditions. You'll be responsible for monitoring building systems, performing regular maintenance, managing work requests, and ensuring 24/7 reliability of data center operations.

Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and rack decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing to support change management program
  • Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution
  • On-site support of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
