Description For Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial in maintaining AWS data centers and their critical infrastructure. As an Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of the front-line team supporting some of the world's most sophisticated data centers. The position involves maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems including electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.

You'll work with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with global experts to implement new technologies and practices. The role requires hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, including standby diesel generators, UPS units, cooling systems, and building automation systems. You'll be responsible for monitoring systems, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring 24/7 reliability of data center operations.

Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts with possible on-call duties

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capability to work on ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
