Description For Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking an Engineering Operations Technician to join their data center operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining and operating AWS's global infrastructure, which powers some of the world's most sophisticated data centers. As an EOT, you'll be responsible for the daily monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical infrastructure systems including electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.

The position offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology in mission-critical facilities. You'll work with standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, UPS units, PDUs, CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, and various mechanical systems. The role demands both technical expertise and physical capabilities, as you'll be performing regular maintenance, responding to emergencies, and ensuring 24/7 reliability of data center operations.

Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician

  • Monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management
  • Monitor and manage daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years' experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capability to perform construction tasks on ladders
  • Ability to work in rotating 12-hour shifts
