Description For Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS's global infrastructure. This role is crucial for maintaining the world's largest cloud computing portfolio, working in some of the most sophisticated and secure data centers globally. As an Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of the front-line team that keeps AWS data centers running 24/7.

The position involves hands-on work with critical infrastructure systems, including electrical systems (generators, UPS units, PDUs), mechanical equipment (CRAHU units, chillers, cooling towers), and fire/life safety systems. You'll conduct regular monitoring rounds, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure all systems meet strict reliability standards.

Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capability to perform construction tasks on ladders
  • Ability to work in rotating 12-hour shifts
