Description For Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role as an Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is crucial in maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems in some of the world's most sophisticated data centers.

You'll be working with cutting-edge technology, joining a diverse team of professionals who ensure 24/7 reliability of AWS data centers. The position involves hands-on work with electrical and mechanical equipment, including standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, and various critical infrastructure components.

As an EOT, you'll be responsible for daily monitoring rounds, troubleshooting complex systems, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring all equipment operates at peak efficiency. You'll work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry, contributing to the operation of infrastructure that powers countless businesses worldwide.

Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years' experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules
