Description For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engg Ops

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking an Engineering Operations Technician II (EOT) to join their Data Center Engineering Operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems that power AWS's global data centers. As an EOT II, you'll work alongside front-line responders in some of the world's most sophisticated and secure data centers, ensuring continuous operation of the cloud infrastructure that countless customers rely on.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while maintaining critical infrastructure that demands 99.999% uptime. You'll be responsible for various aspects of data center operations, from rack installation and decommissioning to troubleshooting facility-level events. Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engg Ops

  • Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities
  • Drive projects with moderate complexity
  • Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, operational readings and facility management
  • Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers
  • Manage on-site contractors, sub-contractors and vendors
  • Perform maintenance and operations on electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Maintain data center critical infrastructure ensuring 99.999% up-time
  • Work in rotating 12-hour shifts with possible on-call rotations

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engg Ops

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years' of equivalent experience in electrical or mechanical industry
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 2+ years' experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds
  • Physical ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs
