Description For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations

Join AWS Infrastructure Services, the team responsible for keeping the world's largest cloud computing portfolio running. As an Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of Earth's most customer-centric company, working in some of the most sophisticated and secure data centers globally. You'll collaborate with front-line responders to maintain and operate critical infrastructure systems that power AWS's global operations.

The role involves hands-on work with data center infrastructure, including rack installations, maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems, and ensuring 99.999% uptime for critical equipment. You'll work alongside diverse teams of software, hardware, and network engineers, contributing to projects that drive innovation while reducing operational costs.

Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting facility events, managing contractors, performing maintenance on critical systems, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. The position requires technical expertise, physical capabilities, and the ability to work in rotating shifts.

Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations

  • Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities
  • Drive projects with moderate complexity
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, operational readings and facility management
  • Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers
  • Manage on-site contractors and vendors
  • Maintain data center critical infrastructure equipment ensuring 99.999% up-time
  • Perform maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Work in rotating 12-hour shifts with possible on-call duties

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years' of equivalent experience in electrical or mechanical industry
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 2+ years' experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lift/move up to 39 pounds unassisted
  • Physical capabilities: walking, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs
