Description For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations

Join AWS Infrastructure Services, the team responsible for keeping the world's largest cloud computing portfolio running. As an Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of the Data Center Engineering Operations team maintaining critical infrastructure in some of the world's most sophisticated data centers. You'll work alongside front-line responders, ensuring 99.999% uptime for AWS's global infrastructure.

The role combines hands-on technical work with strategic facility management. You'll handle everything from rack installations to managing contractors, while driving innovation and cost reduction initiatives. The position requires both technical expertise in electrical/mechanical systems and the ability to manage complex projects.

  • Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities
  • Drive projects with moderate complexity
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs, decommissioning, and facility management
  • Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers
  • Manage on-site contractors and vendors
  • Maintain data center critical infrastructure equipment
  • Perform maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures
  • Manage ticketing systems and perform root cause analysis

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations

Linux
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds unassisted
  • Physical capabilities: walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts
