Description For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO)

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking an Engineering Operations Technician to join their Data Center Engineering Operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining and operating AWS's global infrastructure, supporting all AWS data centers and their critical equipment. The position involves hands-on work with sophisticated mechanical and electrical systems in some of the world's most advanced data centers.

As an Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of mission-critical facility equipment. This includes working with standby diesel generators, electrical systems, cooling systems, and various support equipment. You'll perform preventative maintenance, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure all safety procedures are followed.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of electrical or mechanical experience, with the ability to work 12-hour shifts in a rotating schedule. Physical requirements include the ability to work at heights, lift up to 49 pounds, and navigate uneven terrain. Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO)

  • Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
  • Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLA
  • Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Maintain and operate mission-critical data center facility equipment
  • Work with standby diesel generators, electrical systems, UPS units, PDUs
  • Manage CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water systems
  • Support fire/life safety equipment and building automation systems

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO)

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of equivalent experience in electrical or mechanical industry
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (rotating 3 to 4 day work weeks)
  • Physical ability to walk job sites in uneven terrain
  • Ability to work at heights and from ladders
  • Ability to lift up to 49 pounds regularly
