AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking an Engineering Operations Technician to join their Data Center Engineering Operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining and operating AWS's global infrastructure, supporting all AWS data centers and their critical equipment. The position involves hands-on work with electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring 24/7 reliability of data center operations.

As an Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be responsible for monitoring and maintaining sophisticated data center equipment, including electrical systems, mechanical systems, and fire/life safety equipment. You'll conduct daily rounds, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and work with cutting-edge technology in some of the world's most advanced data centers.

The role requires technical expertise in electrical or mechanical systems, strong problem-solving abilities, and the physical capability to perform various maintenance tasks. You'll work in a dynamic environment with rotating shifts, collaborating with a diverse team of professionals to ensure the continuous operation of AWS's cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO)

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts with possible on-call duties

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO)

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capability to work on ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
