Description For Engineering Operations Technician, DCEO

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial in maintaining the backbone of AWS's cloud services, working directly with mission-critical data center facility equipment. As an Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be responsible for ensuring 24/7 reliability of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.

The position offers hands-on experience with advanced infrastructure, including standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, UPS units, PDUs, CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, and various mechanical systems. You'll work alongside a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, contributing to the continuous operation of AWS data centers.

This role is perfect for technically-minded individuals who enjoy hands-on work and problem-solving. You'll be involved in everything from daily monitoring and maintenance to complex troubleshooting and project execution. Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician, DCEO

  • Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing to support change management program
  • Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution
  • On-site support of contractors and vendors
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts with possible on-call duties

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician, DCEO

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
  • Willingness to work in rotating shifts
