AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial in maintaining AWS data centers and ensuring 24/7 reliability. As an Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of the team that keeps the cloud running, working with critical infrastructure including electrical systems, mechanical equipment, and fire/life safety systems.
The position involves hands-on work with mission-critical data center facility equipment, including standby diesel generators, fuel systems, 3-phase electrical systems, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries. You'll also work with mechanical equipment such as CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, and various water systems.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, collaborating across AWS to maintain the highest standards of safety and security. Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician, DCEO
- Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
- Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
- Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
- Perform rack installs and decommissioning
- Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
- Technical writing for change management program
- Monitor and manage daily work requests to resolution
- Provide on-site support of contractors and vendors
- Work rotating 12-hour shifts with possible on-call rotations
Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician, DCEO
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
- 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
- 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
- Ability to participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds
- Physical ability to maintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladder
- Ability to walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders
