Description For Engineering Operations Technician, DCEO

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial in maintaining AWS data centers and ensuring 24/7 reliability. As an Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of the team that keeps the cloud running, working with critical infrastructure including electrical systems, mechanical equipment, and fire/life safety systems.

The position involves hands-on work with mission-critical data center facility equipment, including standby diesel generators, fuel systems, 3-phase electrical systems, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries. You'll also work with mechanical equipment such as CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, and various water systems.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, collaborating across AWS to maintain the highest standards of safety and security. Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician, DCEO

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and manage daily work requests to resolution
  • Provide on-site support of contractors and vendors
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts with possible on-call rotations

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician, DCEO

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Ability to participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds
  • Physical ability to maintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladder
  • Ability to walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders
