Description For Engineering Operations Technician, DCEO

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As an Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of the team that keeps the cloud running by maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems in some of the world's most sophisticated data centers. The role involves hands-on work with electrical and mechanical equipment, including preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of mission-critical systems like diesel generators, UPS units, cooling systems, and fire/life safety equipment.

You'll work alongside a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, collaborating across AWS to maintain the highest standards of safety and security. The position requires technical expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, physical capabilities for hands-on work, and the ability to work in rotating shifts.

Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician, DCEO

  • Monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installations and decommissioning
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and manage daily work requests to resolution
  • Support contractors and vendors ensuring work compliance with established practices
  • Maintain and operate mission-critical data center facility equipment

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician, DCEO

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or equivalent experience in electrical or mechanical industry
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Ability to participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds
  • Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
  • Ability to work in shifts up to 12-hours with possible rotation schedule
