Description For Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role as an Engineering Operations Technician puts you at the forefront of maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems in some of the world's most sophisticated data centers.

As an EOT, you'll be part of a team that ensures 24/7 reliability of AWS data centers, working with electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment. Your responsibilities include conducting daily building rounds, monitoring crucial systems, performing preventative maintenance, and responding to technical challenges within strict SLAs.

The position offers a unique blend of hands-on technical work with sophisticated equipment, including standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, mechanical equipment like centrifugal chillers, and cooling towers. Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and rack decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing to support change management program
  • Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution
  • On-site support of contractors and vendors

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician

  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capability to work on ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules
