Description For Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're the people who keep the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation.

As an Engineering Operations Technician I (EOT I), you'll join a diverse team working on challenging problems in some of the world's most sophisticated, safe, and secure data centers. Your responsibilities include:

  • Driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities
  • Assisting in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Performing rack installs, decommissioning, operational readings, and facility management
  • Providing key performance indicators to senior engineers
  • Managing on-site contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors
  • Overseeing maintenance and operations on electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Ensuring adherence to safety procedures
  • Performing basic support tasks like ticketing, root cause analysis, change management, and procedure writing
  • Maintaining critical infrastructure to ensure 99.999% uptime

The role may involve 12-hour shifts, rotating schedules, on-call rotations, and supporting multiple locations. Physical requirements include lifting up to 39 pounds, walking on uneven terrain, and performing tasks on ladders.

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of equivalent experience in a relevant industry (e.g., electrical or mechanical)
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (including Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain, maintain balance, and perform tasks on ladders
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including 12-hour shifts and on-call rotations
