Description For Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role as an Engineering Operations Technician puts you at the forefront of maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems in some of the world's most sophisticated data centers.

The position involves hands-on work with electrical and mechanical equipment, including standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, HVAC systems, and various critical facility components. You'll be part of a team that ensures 24/7 reliability and availability of AWS data center operations.

As an EOT, you'll perform daily building rounds, monitor crucial systems, troubleshoot equipment, handle rack installations, and manage work requests. The role requires both technical expertise and physical capabilities, as you'll be working with heavy equipment and in various physical conditions.

Responsibilities For Engineering Operations Technician

  • Monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management
  • Monitor and manage daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors

Requirements For Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
