AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a passionate, results-oriented Engineering Technician to join their Global Field Operations team in the Americas region. This role is crucial in maintaining AWS's vast data center operations, serving as a technical resource to support Amazon Web Services' geographically distributed Global field operations.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge data center technology while driving operational excellence in colocation and field-based operations. You'll be responsible for ensuring high availability and reliability of mission-critical infrastructure, working directly with colocation providers to oversee electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment maintenance.

As an Engineering Technician, you'll be AWS's front-line technical subject matter expert, handling hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment operations and troubleshooting. The role involves managing multiple relationships with colocation providers, driving innovation to reduce operational costs, and maintaining high reliability standards.

The position requires up to 60% travel around the Americas region, offering exposure to various facilities and technical challenges. Responsibilities For Engineering Technician, Global Field Operations Americas

  • Drive operational excellence in colocation and field-based data center operations
  • Work with business development on site qualification and selection
  • Manage relationships with Colocation providers
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment
  • Identify and drive projects to maintain high reliability and performance
  • Perform periodic on-site reviews and audits of operations
  • Supervise design and implementation of facility retrofits
  • Perform first-level troubleshooting for facility events
  • Approve Change Management Tasks
  • Attend weekly calls with TPMs and CAD designers

Requirements For Engineering Technician, Global Field Operations Americas

  • Electrical / Mechanical licensing or Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge and experience of Data Center infrastructure
  • In-depth knowledge of UPS, backup generator systems and mechanical-room infrastructure
  • Strong writing skillset
  • Ability to travel up to 60% around the AMER area
