Description For EU Machinery Safety Engineer, High Risk Operations (HRO)

Amazon's High Risk Operations team is seeking a Safety Engineer to enhance the safe design and operation of cutting-edge technology across their facilities. This role is crucial for the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission, focusing on creating safe, efficient environments that promote employee well-being. The position involves conducting equipment inspections, ensuring compliance with EU machinery safety standards, and working with cross-functional teams to implement safety measures.

The successful candidate will be based in Luxembourg with frequent travel (40-50%), working directly with Engineering, Reliability, Maintenance, Procurement, and Real Estate teams. They will be responsible for risk assessments, safety solution development, and managing inspection programs across European facilities. This role requires technical expertise in EU machinery safety standards and regulations, combined with strong project management and communication skills.

The position offers an opportunity to influence safety standards at a global scale, working with Amazon's vast network of fulfillment centers, sort centers, and delivery stations. The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree, experience in machinery inspection, and deep knowledge of EU safety regulations.   • Perform risk assessments of machinery and equipment
  • Develop safety solutions meeting Amazon standards

Requirements For EU Machinery Safety Engineer, High Risk Operations (HRO)

Linux
  • Degree in relevant field
  • Experience in machinery inspection
  • Knowledge of Robotics and Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
  • In-depth understanding of EU Machine Directive 2006/42/EC
  • Experience in risk assessments
  • Record of managing machinery safety inspections
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent (preferred)
  • Formal training certification in Machinery Safety (preferred)
