Description For Facility Operations Center (FOC) Engineer

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Facility Operations Center (FOC) Engineer to join their critical infrastructure team. This role is central to maintaining AWS's global data center operations, working from their state-of-the-art Facility Operations Center. The FOC serves as the Command Center for AWS Data Centers, operating 24/7x365 with a follow-the-sun approach that eliminates night shifts.

As a FOC Engineer, you'll be responsible for the remote monitoring of Data Center power and cooling infrastructure globally. The role demands expertise in critical facility infrastructure and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You'll work alongside a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supporting all AWS data centers and their essential infrastructure components.

The position offers unique opportunities to work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain. You'll collaborate with teams across AWS to maintain the highest standards for safety and security while ensuring infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers. Responsibilities For Facility Operations Center (FOC) Engineer

  • Analyze alarm monitoring systems and follow escalation processes
  • Review work requests from field technicians for compliance
  • Create and document tickets
  • Act as a key point of contact for onsite Data Center teams
  • Maintain a solid understanding of critical facility infrastructure
  • Execute vision and goals for the team or department
  • Support a 40-hour workweek, including weekends and holidays

Requirements For Facility Operations Center (FOC) Engineer

Linux
  • 3+ years of Command Control Center and/or relevant work experience in a critical facility environment
  • 3+ years of Technical (Military/Trade School) training and/or experience or Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent
  • Work a flexible schedule including weekends, and/or holidays
  • Knowledge of Power and Cooling Infrastructure (preferred)
  • 2+ years of data center engineering experience (preferred)
