Project Kuiper, Amazon's ambitious satellite initiative, is seeking a Gateway Commissioning Engineer to play a crucial role in deploying a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites. This position combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic planning to build and maintain ground gateway systems that enable high-speed, low-latency broadband connectivity worldwide.
As a Gateway Commissioning Engineer, you'll lead teams in installing and commissioning international gateway terminals, spending significant time (50%+) traveling to various sites. You'll be responsible for delivering operational sites to the Kuiper Operations Team, including physical setup, network configuration, RF calibration, and site acceptance testing. The role requires expertise in satellite communications systems and a strong background in technical project delivery.
The Ground Systems team you'll join is responsible for the architecture, design, build, and installation of Kuiper's Ground and TT&C Gateways. These systems are critical infrastructure that enable high data rate, low latency communications between Kuiper points of presence and the satellite constellation. You'll work closely with multiple teams including Ground Infrastructure Services, Networks, Regulatory, Payload Test, and RF Systems.
This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking project that aims to provide internet connectivity to unserved and underserved communities globally. The role combines technical expertise, leadership, and the chance to work with cutting-edge satellite technology. Note that this position requires compliance with export control regulations (ITAR/EAR) and may require specific eligibility based on nationality and citizenship factors.
