Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. As a Hardware Development Engineer (HDE) at Amazon, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to conceive and design innovative product solutions for Project Kuiper's payload.
Key responsibilities include: • Designing digital, analog, and RF circuits • Optimizing board design for high-speed clocks and transmission lines • Performing schematic capture and leading PCB layout implementation • Working with software teams on FPGA and processor designs • Bringing up Linux on embedded systems • Supporting requirement definitions and generating test plans/procedures • Board bring-up and testing of modules and subsystems • Supporting design of automated test systems and factory tests
You'll work in a multi-disciplinary environment, from concept to production, and should be comfortable debugging and verifying designs in the lab. The RF Hardware and Systems team covers various technical areas, including power supplies, high-speed digital, mixed signal, and RF.
This role requires a BS degree in electrical or computer engineering (or equivalent experience), with 5+ years of experience in hardware development across the full product life cycle. You should have experience with schematic capture tools, PCB layout viewers, board bring-up, and using lab equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
Preferred qualifications include a Master's or PhD, familiarity with FPGAs and processors, Linux administration, basic knowledge of RTL and embedded software, and familiarity with analog electronics and DC power supply designs.
