Description For Hardware Lead Engineer

AWS Utility Computing (UC) is seeking a Hardware Lead Engineer for their Annapurna Labs division to work on next-generation cloud platforms. This role focuses on defining, developing, and managing Network Interface Card (NIC) hardware from conception to mass production. The position requires expertise in high-speed board design, hardware interfaces, and manufacturing processes. As part of AWS's innovative team, you'll work with technical experts and senior leaders across multiple technology areas.

The role combines technical leadership with hands-on hardware development, requiring deep expertise in electrical engineering and hardware production. You'll be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the K2 Smart Network Interface Card, from initial design to mass manufacturing, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and customers to optimize processes and reduce costs.

Responsibilities For Hardware Lead Engineer

  • Define and provide feedback to the design of the K2 Smart Network Interface Card
  • Work with design partners and manufacturing sites for mass production
  • Review, identify, and qualify second-source electrical components
  • Analyze and debug design/manufacturing/integration issues
  • Assess process capabilities and innovate to simplify processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Work with customers to optimize the entire value stream

Requirements For Hardware Lead Engineer

Linux
  • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 10+ years experience leading hardware products from design to mass production
  • Experience in high-speed board design and practical hardware lab
  • Design/lab experience with DDR4/5, PCIe Gen3/4/5, or 100/25/10GbE interfaces
  • Practical experience writing scripts
  • Willing to travel abroad one or two times a year
