Description For Industrial Design Engineer, R2L Design

Amazon's Rural and Rapid Logistics Design team (R2L) is seeking an experienced Industrial Designer to join their Design Engineering team. This role focuses on developing next-generation fulfillment, delivery, and transportation systems, specifically supporting the expansion of Rural Delivery and Sub Same Day delivery services. The position involves driving process engineering, building design, and standardization across Amazon's Last Mile delivery network.

The role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills, as the Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and optimizing delivery and sortation networks while ensuring safety, customer experience, quality, and cost goals are met. The position demands someone who can evaluate options from basic to automated solutions, providing data-driven recommendations.

Responsibilities For Industrial Design Engineer, R2L Design

  • Work with key stakeholders on criteria for design and expansion
  • Develop design and analytical models to show feasibility and operational cost
  • Generate and implement design process with focus on operational and safety criteria
  • Review design and supporting technical documents for approvals
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and optimization
  • Communicate and present technical documents/drawings
  • Project manage and communicate via BIM and ACC tools
  • Train and articulate standards across cross functional teams
  • Travel 25% of the time

Requirements For Industrial Design Engineer, R2L Design

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent industrial and operations background
  • 4+ years of engineering experience in industrial, logistics, distribution, fulfillment, manufacturing, architectural, robotics, production environment
  • Expert in AutoCAD, REVIT or any other CAD program
  • Experience in dealing with ambiguity, data analysis and analytical skills
  • Experience in solution optimization, value engineering, best fit analysis, process development
