Description For Industrial Design Engineer, R2L Design

Amazon's Rural and Rapid Logistics Design team (R2L) is seeking an experienced Industrial Designer to join their Design Engineering team. This role focuses on developing next-generation fulfillment, delivery, and transportation systems, supporting the expansion of Rural Delivery and Sub Same Day delivery networks. The position involves driving process engineering, building design, and standardization across Amazon's Last Mile delivery network.

The role requires a unique blend of technical expertise and project management skills, where you'll be responsible for designing and optimizing delivery and sortation networks while ensuring safety, customer experience, quality, and cost goals are met. You'll create detailed drawings of material handling equipment, work areas, and storage equipment, while also supporting future initiatives.

As an Industrial Design Engineer, you'll collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate cost-effective solutions under tight deadlines. The position demands excellent multitasking abilities and strong communication skills to effectively manage relationships with business partners, contractors, and vendors. You'll be working with cutting-edge technology and automation solutions, contributing to Amazon's innovative logistics infrastructure.

The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $89,400 to $185,000 based on location and experience, plus comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Industrial Design Engineer, R2L Design

  • Work with key stakeholders on the criteria for design and expansion
  • Develop design and analytical models to show feasibility and operational cost of design
  • Generate and implement design process with focus on operational and safety criteria
  • Review design and supporting technical documents for approvals
  • Review existing designs to identify value engineering opportunities and optimization
  • Communicate, present and write technical documents/drawings
  • Project manage and communicate with stakeholders via BIM tools
  • Train and articulate standards across cross functional teams
  • Travel 25% of the time

Requirements For Industrial Design Engineer, R2L Design

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 5+ years Amazon experience
  • 2 years of experience in Design/Innovation Engineering, Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering
  • Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) projects
  • Experience using MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
  • Expert in AutoCAD, REVIT or other CAD programs
  • Strong data analysis and analytical skills
  • Experience in solution optimization and value engineering
