Join Amazon's World Wide Design Engineering team and shape the future of global logistics. As an Innovation and Design Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of designing next-generation fulfillment centers that power Amazon's global supply chain. Based in Nashville, you'll work on transformative projects that combine robotics, automation, and advanced material handling technologies.
Your role will encompass the complete design journey - from initial concept through final implementation. You'll be responsible for creating sophisticated solutions for inbound supply chain, fulfillment, and distribution networks. Projects will range from building new facilities (green-field) to modernizing existing operations (brown-field) and strategic retrofits across North America and Europe.
As a technical authority, you'll collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to transform innovative ideas into reality. You'll design various facilities including fulfillment centers, cross-dock facilities, specialty sites for reverse logistics and hazmat, plus ground and air transportation hubs. Some projects will follow established templates while others will require novel approaches.
The position offers significant growth potential within one of the world's most sophisticated supply chain networks. You'll join a team of exceptional engineers who manage hundreds of high-impact projects annually in a fast-paced environment. The role requires strong technical skills, effective stakeholder communication, and the ability to drive decisions while managing multiple concurrent projects.
Key responsibilities include leading architectural and mechanical design of complex systems, creating detailed specifications for automated equipment, developing engineering calculations, and ensuring all solutions meet Amazon's rigorous standards. You'll partner with Operations, Construction, Controls Engineering, and Finance teams while supporting implementation phases.
Success in this role comes from combining technical expertise with project management skills and innovative thinking. You'll need to stay current with industry trends, contribute to best practices, and help standardize designs for scalability. The position includes regular travel to project sites (approximately 25%) and occasional international travel.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an engineer who takes ownership, drives results, and wants to make a lasting impact on global logistics infrastructure. You'll be working with cutting-edge technologies while solving complex challenges that directly affect millions of customer experiences.
