Description For Malware Researcher / Reverse Engineer - AWS, GuardDuty Security Analytics and AI Research

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking experienced Security Engineers to join their Security Analytics and AI Research group within AWS Security Services. This role is specifically focused on the development and research of core threat detection and machine learning algorithms for Amazon GuardDuty.

As a Malware Researcher/Security Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of cybersecurity, working on never-before-solved problems in threat detection and analysis. The position combines deep technical expertise in malware analysis and reverse engineering with cutting-edge AI and machine learning applications in security.

The role is part of the AWS Security Services team, which builds massively scalable and globally distributed security systems. You'll be working within the Utility Computing (UC) organization, supporting critical AWS services including S3, EC2, and various other compute, database, storage, and IoT services.

Key responsibilities include researching malware detection evasion techniques, developing detection tools, collaborating with data scientists, and working directly with customers on security concerns. You'll also be instrumental in advising the broader team on the evolving threat landscape.

  • Research the latest malware detection evasion techniques
  • Design and develop signatures and tools to detect and mitigate threats
  • Work with data scientists to help develop and test detections for attack patterns
  • Build tools and systems to analyze emerging threats
  • Work with customers in response to requests related to suspicious files or false positives
  • Advise broader team on current threat landscape, tools & techniques
  • Reverse engineer and analyze malware to evaluate complex malicious code
