Project Kuiper, an ambitious Amazon initiative, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their space hardware team. This role is crucial in the development and production of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of satellite production, working directly with technician teams to ensure smooth manufacturing operations. Your responsibilities will span from writing detailed work instructions and troubleshooting non-conformances to executing critical satellite assembly build and test campaigns. You'll have hands-on involvement in developing and implementing manufacturing processes, including automated quality SPC systems.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge space technology while making a global impact. You'll be involved in specifying, designing, and procuring assembly equipment, optimizing production processes, and reviewing designs for manufacturability. Responsibilities For Manufacturing Engineer – Space Hardware, Project Kuiper

  • Write work instructions, troubleshoot non-conformances and help execute critical satellite assembly build and test campaigns
  • Definition & implementation of Work Order and standard operating procedures
  • Assist with developing manufacturing processes for automated quality SPC
  • Specify, design and help procure various assembly equipment, tools and systems
  • AIT takt time & cost optimization planning
  • Review designs for manufacturability and sign off for design release
  • Support technician team by resolving obstacles and working with engineers to disposition non-conformances

Requirements For Manufacturing Engineer – Space Hardware, Project Kuiper

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing/Mechanical/Aerospace/Industrial/Electrical) or related discipline
  • 1+ year experience with integrating, testing and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic systems
  • 1+ year experience with Computer Aided Design tools such as Solidworks or NX/Unigraphics
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee due to export control laws
