Description For Mechanical Field Engineer

As a Mechanical Field Engineer, you'll provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers, from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You'll be the primary engineering resource for your region, working with diverse teams and applying your expertise to maintain and improve data center operations.

The position combines hands-on technical work with strategic planning, requiring both engineering expertise and project management skills. You'll be responsible for reviewing designs, troubleshooting issues, conducting root cause analysis, and leading engineering audits. Responsibilities For Mechanical Field Engineer

  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers in your region
  • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action documentation
  • Support operational issues with ad-hoc training and complex operating procedure reviews
  • Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions
  • Interface with internal data center design engineering team
  • Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions
  • Initiate and lead engineering audits including on-site visits
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects

Requirements For Mechanical Field Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 6+ years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers
  • Fluent knowledge of continuous operating redundant electrical systems, cooling systems, air flow containment systems and building management systems
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Attention to detail
