Description For Mechanical Field Engineer, Mechanical Field Engineer

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Mechanical Field Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You'll be the 'go to' engineering resource for your region, performing design reviews, troubleshooting, conducting Root Cause Analysis, supporting operational issues, owning design upgrades, and interfacing with various teams to maintain consistency and reliability. You'll work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions, initiate engineering audits, and act as a resident engineer during new construction projects. This role requires strong engineering judgment, attention to detail, project management experience, and the ability to build relationships with different stakeholders. You'll have the opportunity to work on innovative projects at hyper-scale and be part of a team dedicated to supporting new members and fostering knowledge sharing and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers
  • Troubleshoot and conduct Root Cause Analysis for site/equipment failures
  • Support operational issues with training and procedure reviews
  • Own design upgrades for existing data centers
  • Interface with various teams to promote standards
  • Lead engineering audits and produce risk reports
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience in industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities
  • Experience with mission critical facilities, especially data centers
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create construction drawings and specifications
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment related to data centers
  • Ability to develop solutions and execute plans on complex projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Advanced degree in engineering, business, or related field
  • Experience with EPMS/SCADA/BMS Controls systems
  • Previous ownership of fast track design/build projects
