Description For Mechanical Process Engineer, Product Engineering

Amazon China is seeking a Mechanical Process Engineer to join their innovative R&D team focused on consumer electronics products like Kindle, Fire TV, and Echo. This role bridges US and China operations throughout the design cycle, focusing on mechanical part production processes and supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with expertise in high-volume production environments.

As a Mechanical Process Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing manufacturing processes, providing design recommendations, and driving engineering studies to improve part yield rates. You'll work closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams, managing technical documentation and risk mitigation throughout the product development cycle.

The role demands excellent analytical skills, including knowledge of data analysis and statistics, plus strong communication abilities in English. You'll be expected to mentor junior engineers and travel to supplier sites as needed. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile consumer electronics products while developing supplier relationships and driving technical excellence.

Responsibilities For Mechanical Process Engineer, Product Engineering

  • Identify and develop mechanical part manufacturing and decorative processes
  • Review and develop part/sub-assembly process flow, including process fixture concept and DFM
  • Develop supplier process capability through continuous engagement and engineering studies
  • Provide design feedback and recommendations including features and tolerances
  • Drive and approve technical data documentation
  • Drive technical issue resolution at suppliers
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers
  • Identify technical risks and define mitigation plan
  • Travel domestically and internationally to supplier sites as required

Requirements For Mechanical Process Engineer, Product Engineering

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years experience in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, or Tooling Engineering
  • Experience in High Volume Production (1M + annual production)
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of data analysis and statistics, familiar with GR&R and DOE
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Experience working onsite with manufacturers and suppliers
  • Familiarity with Pro/Engineer and MS office suite
