Description For Network Development Engineer, Amazon Robotics

The Amazon Robotics Infrastructure Engineering team is seeking a Network Development Engineer (NDE) to join their team. This role involves building and operating networks and services that enable Amazon Fulfillment Centers to deliver packages to customers. The ideal candidate will create next-generation network products, focusing on automating networks from multiple diverse vendors, maximizing reliability, and minimizing human intervention in deployment and maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Writing code for demanding, cross-functional networking projects
  • Decomposing complex problems into simple solutions
  • Understanding system inter-dependencies and limitations
  • Researching and benchmarking Amazon technology against industry competitors
  • Contributing intellectual property through patents
  • Mentoring others on advanced technical issues

The role requires expertise in internet routing protocols, Linux/Unix environments, automation scripting (Python, Bash, Shell, Perl), and AWS networking products. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture.

This position offers an opportunity to work on challenging, novel situations daily and collaborate with multiple technical teams across Amazon. The role demands technical fearlessness balanced with pragmatism, and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with ambiguity and competing priorities.

Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, parental leave options, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan.
