AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a highly motivated Network Development Engineer to join their Network Operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining and enhancing AWS's global infrastructure, focusing on the stability and scalability of next-generation networks.

Responsibilities For Network Development Engineer, Backbone Operations

  • Provide critical on-shift network operations support to diagnose and respond to large-scale networking events
  • Support and maintain next generation data-center networks
  • Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes
  • Partner with Technical Operations organization to reduce operational burden
  • Work with Network Engineering & Deployment teams for operational readiness
  • Drive standards across the network and ensure compliance
  • Drive event deep dives for large-scale events
  • Improve detection mechanisms by designing and implementing new alerts
  • Create and review documentation and processes
  • Troubleshoot networking, routing and inter-connectivity issues
  • Automate repeatable networking tasks through scripts and tools

Requirements For Network Development Engineer, Backbone Operations

Linux
Python
  • Excellent Ethernet and IP networking knowledge
  • Experience with BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, TCP/IP, UDP, HSRP/VRRP/GLBP, DNS, ARP, HTTP, SSL, STP
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Comfortable working in Linux/Unix environment
  • Software development/scripting skills - specifically Python or shell (bash)
  • Experience in large-scale datacenter network implementations
