AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join their Backbone Enterprise and Regional Engineering (BERE) team within the Global Connectivity and Network Availability (GCNA) Organization. This role is crucial in maintaining AWS's global infrastructure, which powers their cloud services worldwide.

The position involves working with one of the largest networks in the world, where you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining critical network infrastructure that connects AWS regions and edge locations. You'll be part of a diverse team that grows by 70% annually, working on challenging problems that require innovative solutions at massive scale.

As a Network Development Engineer, you'll collaborate with various teams to develop and implement next-generation platforms and tooling ecosystems. Responsibilities For Network Development Engineer, BERE Engineering

  • Create and implement changes on the network
  • Work with automation teams in defining scaling tools
  • Lead network projects in areas of network sustaining engineering and implementation
  • Provide critical network support to diagnose and resolve large-scale networking events
  • Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, and configurations issues
  • Partner with Network/Infrastructure organization on engineering standards
  • Maintain standards across the networking toolset
  • Create and review documentation for network implementations
  • Participate in on-call shifts for critical network events

Requirements For Network Development Engineer, BERE Engineering

  • 4+ years of experience in a network focused hands-on technical role working with IP routing protocols/technologies
  • 4+ years of experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms to support IP network
  • 1+ years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture
  • Experience with router, server load balancer, and firewall vendor platforms
  • Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures
