AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join their Inter-DC & Optical team. This role is crucial in building and maintaining AWS's global infrastructure, supporting all AWS data centers and the equipment that ensures continuous customer access to cloud innovations. The position involves working with a diverse team of engineers and specialists, focusing on network deployment, scaling, and optimization across multiple global datacenters.

The InterDC Optical Services team manages over 10Pbps of inter-data center traffic across 30k+ devices worldwide. You'll be responsible for both hardware and software development, cross-platform integration, and production transition for optical platforms. The role combines hands-on technical work with strategic planning, requiring collaboration with customers to understand and meet their current and future needs.

Key responsibilities include implementing network changes, working with automation teams on scaling tools, leading network projects, and providing critical support for large-scale networking events. You'll need expertise in IP routing protocols, network security architecture, and automation skills using Python or similar languages.

  • 1+ years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture
  • Experience with router, server load balancer, and firewall vendor platforms
