Description For Network Development Manager, DCNE

The Core Networking team is looking for a Sr. Network Development Manager to join our Inter-DC & Optical team. As a Network Development Manager, you will be responsible for managing teams that build, deploy and scale the Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units, across multiple global datacenters. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving operational excellence in processes, procedures, and standards
  • Managing network measurement and metrics
  • Performance management and team health
  • Incident and change management
  • Recruiting and hiring quality personnel
  • Driving automation initiatives
  • Goal setting and delivery for the team and wider Topology team

The role involves working with the InterDC Optical Services team, responsible for the development, delivery, and lifecycle support of optical products used to interconnect AWS Data Centers and PoPs. The current network size is >10Pbps of inter data center traffic over >30k devices worldwide.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or relevant degree/experience
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • 5+ years people management experience, managing a team of 8+ individual contributors
  • 3+ years of past experience with network engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience presenting root cause analysis to senior management
  • Working knowledge of developing operational metrics
  • Knowledge of Networking (TCP/IP, Routing/Switching & Troubleshooting)
  • Linux experience and scripting abilities (Python, Perl, shell)
  • Experience representing your team to senior management
  • Experience with high-quality recruiting plans

The base pay for this position ranges from $166,300/year to $272,400/year, depending on the geographic market. Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package and values work-life harmony.
