Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an Operations Engineer I to join their Managed Services (AMS) team. This role sits at the intersection of cloud technology and customer service, working with AWS's comprehensive suite of cloud services. The position involves collaborating with Operation, Database, and Network Engineers to tackle complex technical challenges in an agile environment.

As part of AWS Managed Services, you'll be instrumental in accelerating cloud adoption through automation and machine learning. The role encompasses managing AWS infrastructure, automating common activities, and providing full-lifecycle services to support customer infrastructure. You'll work alongside some of the industry's brightest minds, troubleshooting complex issues and building innovative solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in virtualization, database administration, and information security. You'll be responsible for operating the Managed Service platform, collaborating with internal teams, and serving as a technical escalation point. This role requires a US Citizen who can obtain a Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities For Operations Engineer I, AWS Managed Services (AMS)

  • Operate the Managed Service platform and collaborate with internal service teams
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and drive root cause analysis
  • Build proof of concept environments following cloud best-practices
  • Collaborate and help build utilities and tools for internal use
  • Identify and drive improvements to technical processes
  • Act as an escalation point and mentor to less experienced engineers
  • Provide voice of the customer to internal AWS teams
  • Drive customer communication during critical events
  • Work on a scheduled day shift

Requirements For Operations Engineer I, AWS Managed Services (AMS)

Linux
  • 3+ years of virtualization, orchestration and cloud computing experience
  • 3+ years of database administration experience
  • 3+ years of information security and compliance experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, or 3+ years of technical support experience
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
