Description For Operations Engineer I

AWS is seeking highly motivated engineers for their Intelligence team to work with the U.S. Intelligence Community. This role focuses on implementing and operating some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world. As an Operations Engineer I, you'll be responsible for implementing innovative cloud computing solutions and solving complex technical problems. The position requires working with the latest cloud computing technologies to help U.S. Government agencies implement innovative solutions. You'll be part of a specialized group handling critical infrastructure, requiring strong Linux, networking, and cloud services knowledge.

The role involves hands-on work with AWS's Managed Service platform, troubleshooting complex issues, and collaborating with internal teams to meet customer needs. You'll be expected to drive root cause analysis, build proof of concept environments, and contribute to the development of internal tools and utilities. This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and operates within a 24/7 environment.

Responsibilities For Operations Engineer I

  • Operate the Managed Service platform and collaborate with internal service teams
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and drive root cause analysis
  • Build and collaborate on utilities and tools for internal use
  • Identify and drive improvements to technical processes
  • Act as an escalation point and mentor to less experienced engineers
  • Drive customer communication during critical events
  • Work on scheduled day shifts in a 24/7 operation environment

Requirements For Operations Engineer I

Linux
Redis
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, or 3+ years of technical support experience
  • 1-3 years of experience with Systems Administration in Linux/Unix (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat, Solaris, etc.)
  • 1-3 years of experience with Networking (TCP/IP, DNS)
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph
