Description For Operations Engineer I - Linux, AWS Managed Services

As an Operations Engineer I (OEI) of the AMS team, you will be part of the technical support line. You will receive contacts from corporate clients via email, chats, and calls regarding infrastructure-related requests such as change requests, monitoring, patch management, and security and backup services. You will also provide full-lifecycle services to provision, run, and support infrastructure. These requests will be minor-intermediate impact, with higher-level/severity requests being elevated to the next level of support. This role also participates in process improvement projects/initiatives for the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Influencing team learning and development by participating in trainings, creating tutorials, how-to videos, and technical articles for the AWS customer community.
  • Working directly with technical teams from AWS enterprise, customers, and partners to provide unique solutions for application deployment.
  • Collaborating and helping build utilities and tools for internal use to enable safe operation at high speed and wide scale.
  • Maintaining and driving continuous communication with customers during critical events.
  • Working on critical, highly complex customer requirements spanning multiple AWS services, such as troubleshooting, supporting fleets of server instances, building and maintaining CloudFormation templates and scripts, and solving challenging operational issues in complex enterprise environments.

Requirements For Operations Engineer I - Linux, AWS Managed Services

Linux
  • 2+ years' work experience in a Technical Support or Technical Customer Service role
  • 2+ years experience with Installation and Troubleshooting Operating System knowledge (Operating System Administration- Linux)
  • 2+ years experience in Network fundamentals- Topology, protocols (TCP/IP), and physical networking
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, within technical and business settings
