Description For PIT Network Engineer, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites, aimed at providing low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. As a Payload Integration and Test Network Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in system data-path/network verification and validation of software interface requirements and modem architectures.

You'll work in a collaborative environment with a multi-disciplinary team and third-party partners, focusing on development to productization of various Kuiper products. The role involves conceptualizing and executing test campaigns for network functionality and performance, engaging with systems, hardware, and software development teams to capture requirements, define use cases, and align with product strategy.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Conducting end-to-end network, data, and control plane testing across ground, satellite, and customer terminals
  • Deep troubleshooting of throughput degradation and packet losses
  • Supporting on-orbit networking issues reproduction in lab environments
  • Utilizing AWS cloud resources and commercial test equipment
  • Maintaining high-quality documentation and automating test processes
