Description For Pre-Construction Manager, AMER West Data Center Construction

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to join their Data Center Construction team. This role is crucial in planning and executing the construction of Amazon's innovative data centers nationwide. As a Pre-Construction Manager, you'll be the primary liaison between Real Estate, Design Engineering, and Due Diligence teams, providing expertise in schedule forecasting, construction budgeting, and constructability guidance.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive practical construction experience with a focus on data center infrastructure. You'll work with critical data center equipment, including generators, UPS systems, switchgear, and cooling systems. The role involves performing constructability reviews, build phasing evaluations, and managing relationships with contractors and vendors.

Responsibilities For Pre-Construction Manager, AMER West Data Center Construction

  • Perform constructability reviews of critical scopes for new data centers
  • Perform build phasing evaluations
  • Determine and communicate site requirements
  • Conduct negotiations with land sellers and developers
  • Manage GC and third-party vendors
  • Define construction scopes and review bid proposals
  • Support issuance of contracting documents
  • Develop handoff project documentation
  • Collect and share lessons learned

Requirements For Pre-Construction Manager, AMER West Data Center Construction

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent STEM field
  • 5+ years of experience in construction of data center delivery
  • Experience of end-to-end construction project delivery
  • Ability to develop new concepts and processes
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
