Description For Process Engineer, Production Continuous Improvement, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The Process Engineer for ProdOps Continuous Improvement role is key to Kuiper's ability to increase satellite production and testing rate. This role requires a talented engineer with excellent problem-solving skills to enhance operational efficiency and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning several impactful projects
  • Autonomously leading deep dives to root cause specific processes or areas
  • Assessing the effectiveness of operational activities using analytical tools
  • Enhancing operational efficiency and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Embodying Amazon's Leadership Principles to achieve operational excellence
  • Identifying and owning improvements through process recommendations, equipment requests, and manufacturing execution system improvements

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent, 4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, and 2+ years leading continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including working knowledge of data analysis and statistics.

This position offers a collaborative environment, tackling challenging and novel situations daily. The successful candidate will work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations and should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity.

The compensation for this role ranges from $105,600/year to $185,000/year, depending on the geographic market. Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, financial, and other benefits.
